PROTOCOLS

These protocols are subject to adjustment as our knowledge of this virus or as expert advice changes.

Longer treatment time (90 minutes) are temporarily unavailable.
New policies and procedures that comply with recommendations from BC’s Provincial Health Officer, the College of Massage Therapy of BC, and the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of BC.
Last minute cancellations due to COVID-19 symptoms will not be subject to the usual cancellation fee (the no-show fee still applies).
All items in the treatment room that cannot be washed/wiped and sanitized (i.e. cloth or other porous material) have been removed. All pillows, linens, and items that are not being used for the treatment in question are not in the treatment room or are enclosed in a cabinet or cleanable storage bins.

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, or other respiratory illnesses, please reschedule your appointment.
If this is your first appointment with me, please fill out the medical history/intake form included in your confirmation email before arriving. This will minimize the amount of time we spend sitting together in the treatment room.
Please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before your appointment, knocking on the door or ringing the doorbell to let me know you are here. I will open and close the door for you.
Unless required for mobility or personal assistance, please come to your appointment alone (I do not have space for spouses or children to wait safely). If you need to have someone accompany you (or you are accompanying a minor child for their appointment, for example), please contact me ahead of time and let me know.
You will be required to wear a fresh, clean mask while you are here. If possible, bring a reusable cloth one from home. If you don’t have one, I will have disposable masks available for a $1.50 fee.
When you arrive you will be required to wash your hands before proceeding into the treatment area. There will also be hand sanitizer available in the entrance if it is needed.
There will be a sanitized plastic bin for you to put your personal belongings in. This bin was used to store the clean linens and supplies that will be used during your treatment.

After the initial assessment, I will leave you to get on the table (placing your clothes and belongings in the plastic bin only), and wash my hands before coming in to begin the treatment.
I will be wearing a well-fitting non-medical or cloth mask (changed between appointments). If you would feel more comfortable if I wear a different mask or additional PPE, please ask.
You will be required to wear your non-medical mask during the time you are at the clinic.
As always, don’t hesitate to bring up any questions or concerns you might have, and you can end or alter treatment at any time within your comfort level and my scope of practice.

Immediately after treatment, I will leave to wash my hands while you get dressed (this has not changed from pre-COVID times).
When you are ready for me to return, please call out and I will open the curtains, returning to complete any remaining administrative portion of the appointment.
Payment, re-booking, and home care will be discussed as efficiently and timely as possible. As much as I value conversations and discussions with my patients, at this time we will have to keep them to a minimum.
Your receipt will be emailed to you. If a physical receipt is required, please ask.
Hand washing or hand sanitizer will be available for you to use before you leave, both in the treatment room and the entrance.
I will open the front door for you when you leave.

Frequent hand washing and cleaning of all surfaces will continue (i.e. before you arrive, after screening/interview and before treatment, after treatment, after you leave).
Specialized cleaning agents will be used in all areas of the clinic:
- Entrance and stairwell
- Treatment room
- Bathroom
- Laundry
